Capcom's Kitchen made an appearance in the ShopTo office today, with those in attendance giving me their thoughts. We also took some video to show just how good this short demo is at making you jump.
Despite its name, Kitchen is not about whipping up your favourite food on fly, although it is as the name suggests, set in a kitchen. You hold a DualShock 4 pad in the real world and as you would expect, its movements are mirrored by "your" in-experience hands.
"I was so scared, it felt like I was on a rollercoaster," - Ashleigh
The point of the game? Well, when it starts you find yourself facing a fridge, tied to a chair, with your wrists bound together. Eventually your dying friend cuts your bonds free with a knife and soon after that he is sliced to pieces by a demonic woman and dragged out the room. While you frantically look around for an escape, your friend's bloody head ends up at your feet and eventually, and just to scare the wits out you a little more, the woman's bloody hands end up on your face and everything goes a little pear shaped.
"I had to close my eyes as it feels like you're actually there" - James
You're left pretty freaked out by the whole experience, while anyone watching you cowering like a little baby is left wiping the tears of laughter from their eyes (probably).
"My place is definitely not in the Kitchen..." - Dan
It's fair to say that Kitchen offers a rather tense experience, with the demo showing what can be done to scare the living daylight out of you with PlayStation VR. There's bound to be fuller experiences in the future, but it seems that The Kitchen is a good gauge of what's to come.
