LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens confirmed *update*

Update: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been confirmed by Warner at last, giving us both the press release and the official trailer, which we have posted below in place of the leaked one.

It was also confirmed that LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will get timed exclusive DLC on PS4, which includes a Phantom Limb level pack and an exclusive Droid Character pack.

Original: LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been announced via Xbox LIVE.

Late last night Warner confirmed that it would make an announcement surrounding two of the world's biggest franchises and that immediately had us hoping for a new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Game, well it seems our hopes have been confirmed as true.

Here's the full description and some screens and the trailer which also seems to have leaked via Amazon.ca:

"The Force is strong with this one… The No. 1 LEGO videogame franchise triumphantly returns with a fun-filled, humorous journey based on the blockbuster Star Wars film. Play as Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren, Han Solo, and the rest of your favorite characters from the movie!

"In LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, players relive the epic action from the blockbuster film Star Wars: The Force Awakens, retold through the clever and witty LEGO lens. The game will also feature exclusive playable content that bridges the story gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

"LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens also introduces Multi-Builds and Blaster Battles to the LEGO videogame universe. With Multi-Builds, use available LEGO bricks to open up new paths, then break them apart and re-build them again to open up another! And another! During Blaster Battles, use your surroundings as cover to stand against the First Order. "

The release date for the game according to Xbox LIVE is 28th June 2016.

I am boycotting buying any more Lego games until they add the 3rd Hobbit film to Lego Hobbit, although the force could be strong with this and may not resist purchasing this on release! Although I wonder if they will release the other 2 films as DLC, or release all films separately and then release a complete edition afterwards? With those thoughts I may hold off buying any new Lego Star Wars game until all films have been released.

I'll be getting this - Just looked on the Canadian PSN site and this bit sounds interesting: "The game will also feature exclusive playable content that bridges the story gap between Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens." - so there will be some new content that isn't a 1:1 of the film :)
