EA cut Battlefront's campaign to meet Force Awakens launch

EA has revealed that it cut the campaign from Star Wars Battlefront so that it could launch the game alongside Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Speaking to investors, EA's Patrick Soderlund said, "We made [the choice] due to time and being able to launch the game side-by-side with the movie that came out to get the strongest possible impact."

Soderlund also went on to say that, he feels the team created a really good game based on the premise, although also added that EA wasn't particularly happy with the "75 [Metacritic] rating," something which they are planning to address going forward.

This is clearly them thinking up an excuse to try and justify the crap scores. They could have added on a Single player later or delayed the release without the game coming out before the new film - but they chose, since day 1 (when it was announced) that there was no single player going to be added

I thought this was the case. Rush this out with the film plus BF3 has been most wanted plus with the Disney takeover there was a lull in star wars games. Many reasons for people to get this despite lack of content. SW BF2 will do better as it will probably have space combat and a single player campaign.

Also EA did similar move with SWTOR. Dallas Dickinson explained to PC Gamer. A lot of content got cut and made developers cry.
