Sony has forecast 20 million PS4's will be sold for the financial year end, 2016.
The company is hoping to shift a remarkable 20 million PS4 consoles between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017. If it does, which would see it add 50 per cent to the current worldwide sales total, which presumably sits around 36-40 million units at this time.
Speculation puts these expectations down to PlayStation VR, which it is hoped will increase the user base, however perhaps a more important factor could be the rumoured PlayStation 4K, a rumoured system which will increase power for developers and also add 4K support for games and services such as Netflix.
Of course there is also the possibility of a price drop, which would no doubt help boost sales if that were to happen. With production costs always dropping there is a strong chance this could happen.
It's all speculation for now of course, but if Sony does hit its 20 million forecast this would be very impressive.
Do you think Sony will sell a further 20 million PS4 consoles this year?
