Nintendo NX will continue to use physical media, says Gamestop CEO

It seemed pretty obvious, but GameStop's CEO has confirmed that the Nintendo NX will continue to use physical media.

Speaking in a recent earnings call, CEO Paul Raines confirmed the news when questioned, saying, “I would say that the fact that there are rumours of that type just confirms for you that this is an important console for next year.

“It will have physical media, we will play a role in it, our pre-owned business will also play a role. So we’re excited about that.”

GameStop’s Mike Mauler then said he'd not really mind if this media took the form of discs or cartridges, saying it wouldn't really affect Gamestop's pre-owned business.

“The only difference would be on the refurbishment and pre-owned side. And actually, cartridges are much simpler to refurbish and repackage. There is somewhat a little bit of an advantage if it went in that direction on used.”

When will we find out more about Nintendo NX? Soon we hope.
