Red Dead Redemption is now backwards compatible on Xbox One

Update: Just a reminder that the Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption is now backward compatible on Xbox One.

Digital game owners now have instant access to the game on Xbox One, so they can download it from the “Ready to Install” section of their Xbox One and play it at will. Physical game owners can just pop the Xbox 360 game disc into their Xbox One and download the game.

All versions of the game (Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare and Red Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition) are compatible on Xbox One. And for those who did not experience it the first time around, the Undead Nightmare story is available for download from the Xbox Games Store. Furthermore, anyone who doesn’t already have Red Dead Redemption as part of their collection can now get it directly from the Games Store on Xbox One and you can also pre-order the Xbox 360 version from ShopTo.

Original: Rockstar has announced that "starting on Friday, every Red Dead Redemption Xbox 360 owner will be able to play directly on their Xbox One, regardless of which version of the game owned (Red Dead Redemption, Undead Nightmare andRed Dead Redemption: Game of the Year Edition)."

You'll also be able to purchase the game via Xbox LIVE, or if you wish, you'll be able to buy a boxed Xbox 360 copy from ShopTo from July 22 and play via Xbox One, although you can pre-order today.

Ever since this was announced it seems sales of the boxed version have already increased on certain retailers.

Will you be playing again?

The GOTY version is the one to get as it also has a single player hardcore mode, which is not available via the marketplace.

No I won't be replaying as it should be free as Microsoft told everyone they're new machine wouldn't be backward compatable and so most people sold all they're 360 games beforehand. Microsoft should man up and give it out for free download. Scumbags ????

This is one game to get again if you no longer have it as they have put some serious effort into the emulation of RDR, it works 200%. It works better than playing it on Xbox 360. I only briefly played the beginnng on the Xbox 360 last week, then on Friday played it on Xbox ONE and could instantly see the difference. I have never gotten around to finish this and glad I waited now, now I can play it at is best on Xbox ONE, starting from the beginning. The Xbox ONE keeps frame rate at a constant 30fps, it is said it dips at only one point to 26, but on 360 there are frequent drops to 20fps. Also the screen tearing has been fixed.

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
