Rise of the Tomb Raider hits PS4 in October with new content and VR support

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration arrives on PS4 on October 11, complete with PlayStation VR support and a whole load of new content.

The game will contain a new chapter, named Blood Ties, which can be played with or without a PlayStation VR. There will also be new online co-op Endurance gameplay, more outfits, weapons, and Expedition Cards plus all of the previously released DLC. In addition, there will also be Extreme Survivor difficulty, with all automatic checkpoints taken out.

The DLC sees Lara's uncle contest ownership of Croft Manor, so this means Lara has to root around to prove she is the rightful heir. There's also a new zombie mode too, known as Lara's Nightmare.

Finally, you'll be able to play the game via five classic Lara Croft models from games over the years. Sounds good.

Of course all of this new content, excluding VR support will be available on Xbox One and PC too, too, although PC and Xbox One players will have to pay up to get Blood Ties, unless they have the season pass.

"This year we celebrate 20 years of the iconic Lara Croft,” said Ron Rosenberg, co-Head of Studio at Crystal Dynamics. “This provided the perfect opportunity for us to deliver a new Tomb Raider experience. With the addition of PlayStation VR support, you can play the world through Lara’s eyes for the first time in franchise history.”

Are you excited for Rise of the Tomb Raider hitting PS4?

The better version, if you want better versions of games that run noticeably better should wait for a scorpio thats where all the better versions will be for a long time to come, we aint talking a handful of P here either

Come on Jason - in 1 comment you say 'its nice that they are bringing old games to the PS4' knocking the fact there was a silly 12 month exclusive on it - then you say its best to wait yet another year and get it for the Scorpio - so 2 years since release, and that's if MS/SE even bother improving older games as it isn't required, unlike new games coming out after the console is out.

Jason are you Phil Spencers love child ? I don't know why you feel the need to keep screaming Microsoft at any opportunity ? I am assuming you are a school kid due to this behaviour. If you really do enjoy gaming does it really matter what platform you choose ? and again why are you spending your valuable time on a Sony news feed if you you think they are so shit ? I am glad you enjoy your Xb1... I also think its a good console and am very much looking forward to Gears of war but why you feel the need to slag Sony at every opportunity shows your maturity. Just look at any comments you make.... You need to stop being a troll and grow up.
