Two people met in No Man's Sky yesterday, but couldn't see each other

Two players have managed to meet each other in No Man's Sky on the very first day of launch, although they couldn't see each other.

Live Streamer TheGalacticCactus said on Reddit that he landed in a Star system discovered by a user named Psytokat so messaged him, asking him to meet me at a space station.

However it seems that despite this, they couldn't actually see each other.

"We are 100 per cent In the same station same spot and everything and we cannot see each other," TheGalacticCactus said.

Hello Games' Sean Murray said that this could just be down to the servers being hammered by the paying public, tweeting, "Everything is fine you guys. The servers are totally fine. Let's just find our network engineer.

"There are way too many people playing right now. Maybe some of you can just log out? Decide amongst yourselves plz"

Only yesterday Murray said that, "The chances of two players ever crossing paths in a universe this large is pretty much zero.

"We do have some online features and easter eggs so people can know they are playing in the same universe. It's about cool 'moments'," he said.

This morning Murray was already thinking back in amazement that two people had met already.

"Two players finding each other on a stream in the first day - that has blown my mind," he Tweeted.

"We added a 'scan for other players' in the Galactic Map to try to encourage this happening. We wanted it to happen - but the first day?

"We want people to be aware they are in a shared universe. We added online features, and some Easter Eggs to create cool moments.

"We hope to see those happening... but too many of you are playing right now. More than we could have predicted.

"It is a testament to how amazing our network coders are that Discoveries are still working at all."

Hopefully players who do happen to meet will eventually be able to see each other. In the meantime, we'll just enjoy watching people's experience unfold.

This is stupid - was following it last night - Sean says you 'probably' wont ever meet another person - so on Day 1 someone got to someone's planet and messaged them adn they both met up - kind of. They were in the same location, but they had different instances. No other person - time of day different, different things going on and surroundings bar a few set placements. I think Sean just hoped nobody would meet each other before they had thought about what happens next...... Blaming it on the servers is crap though - why would that affect it, plus its officially live today over here, so if the servers were hammered with early people and the US then its gonna get hammered today with EUR and UK.

You are basically not 'in a shared universe' like Sean likes to say, but you are in a 'universe' made up of seeds that have been logged on a server. you come across one of these and it loads that seed. Its not technically shared as you'r not sharing your version of the universe with others live.
