The Last of Us Remastered will be able to run at native 4K on PS4 Pro

A new Digital Foundry report suggests that The Last of Us Remastered will include an option to run at native 4K on PS4 Pro, although it'll be limited to 30FPS.

Currently the game runs at a maximum 1080p resolution, although the power of the PlayStation Pro will give the graphics a significant boost.

"The PS4 version has that 30Hz mode which has higher-resolution shadow maps but otherwise it's just a locked 30fps. Now that mode on the PS4 Pro, well you keep the enhanced shadow map detail but you also get native 4K. So we have actually got a confirmed case of full native 4K game that will be available for PS4 Pro at launch, which will be The Last of Us Remastered."

If you remain on The Last of Us Remastered's standard 60fps mode then playing on PS4 Pro will more offer you a more consistent frame rate.

Elsewhere, Bethesda also confirmed that Elder Scrolls Online will run at native 4K on PS4 Pro.

It sounds like there will be a lot of benefits to owning a PS4 Pro is terms of game performance. Hopefully a lot more games will take advantage of this.

Joe, Elder Scrolls Online is Native 4k as well. It surprising as I didn't think there would be any games tbh - they are at 30fps which is understandable, but still. Plus they all seem to have an option for enhanced 1080 if you don't have 4k

It is good these games give options, but it may not be worth getting 4K TV yet, as 1080/60fps suits me. The thing that concerns me is if games automatically detect your TV and then set it to 4K, instead of being an option, then you are stuck playing at 4k/30fps but if you have a HD TV then you will be playing at 1080p/60fps.

@superniceguy - it the display setting of the ps4 you can pick your resolution and screen size. Think it's in prev versions, but defo in 4.0. So hopefully it should go off that if it does any auto settings. Chances are though it will have in-game options like 3d

been seeing reports that publishers may charge for the updated graphics on the ps4 pro, is this just a misinterpretation?

Lawler it is the developers that would get charged for the updated not players.

I think youll find its the players, this is bombing hard lads this is making the XB1 launch look like a walk in the park. Ths console is lamost breaking the internet for all the wrong reasons. The hate is just toxic and over the top but I can see a real role reversal in there next launches. Youd have to be a fanboy or just have cash to waste to pick up one of these

Hopefully there will be options in each game, or it goes off settings, as the witness is getting an update too but is not going the full 4k but 1440p, so having 4k TV will be beneficial as it will not always be 1080p/60 or 4k/30. "The Witness already runs at 60 frames per second on the original PS4, so the patch is designed to improve visual quality. When playing on a PS4 Pro, two modes will be available, depending on the telly you're using. If you have a 4K TV, The Witness renders at 1440p or possibly higher, while keeping a consistent 60 frames per second. This image is then upscaled to 4K. Text, menus and other user interface features are native 4K. If you have a telly that is 1080p or lower, the game renders at 1080p instead of the old 900p, with increased antialiasing quality from 2x to 4x MSAA, again while keeping a solid 60 frames per second."

Please describe the nature of the abuse:
