Death Stranding will release in 2018, hints Kojima

Hideo Kojima has teased that his new game, Death Stranding, will release in 2018, which, if you don't have a calendar handy, is just two years.

Speaking during a Q&A session that IGN attended, Kojima said, “It will be out before the Olympics. To go a little further, there is a movie called Akira, and it will be out before the year in which Akira is set.”

The next Olympics take place in Tokyo in 2020 and the movie known as Akira was set in 2019, therefore that narrows it down quite nicely to 2018.

Kojima also mentioned that the game will offer "a different kind of online play than anything we’ve seen before,” while also adding that the game will be built using a “well-known” third-party engine rather than having to build their own from scratch.

So there we have it. Only a few years to wait Kojima fans.
