Develop has announced that almost 100 games development firms are battling it out for one of 21 accolades at the 2011 Develop Industry Excellence Awards this year.
The awards, which run alongside the Develop Conference in Brighton sees 95 firms in total in the running. They hail from nine different countries, with 28 different games represented.
Now in its ninth year, the Develop Awards is the only event on the games industry calendar to recognise the creative and commercial innovations made by European games developers.
The ceremony takes place on July 20th at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, Brighton.
“The varied awards shortlist proves European games development is in great health and always evolving, with small indie teams, larger in-house studios, growing independents and format holders all out in force,” said Develop’s Editor-in-Chief Michael French.
“The Develop Industry Excellence Awards are the only awards designed to reward the creative, commercial and innovative work done by European studios and the firms that support them.Congratulations to the finalists, who beat many competitors to be considered for the development sector’s most prestigious awards ceremony.”
A panel of 100 games development execs from around the world will now vote for the winners in the coming weeks, with the victorious studios named at the ceremony on July 20th.
We will be reporting from Develop 2011 this year, so expect plenty of coverage when it kicks off.
