Sony yesterday revealed the games it’s offering as part of it’s welcome back pack following the PSN outage, and as you would expect, some people its seems were still not happy.
The main complaints seemed to be due to the fact that the games on offer are older titles and therefore people suggested that everyone was more likely to have purchased them already. Today Sony has responded to the criticism, saying that it feels the games on offer are of very high quality.
“I’m really sorry that there is nothing there that you want,” said Nick Caplin, Head of Communications, SCEE, “We’ve tried really hard to put together a list of high quality BD games, rather than simply offering cheaper PSN titles. The average metacritic rating for these games is over 84%, so these are high quality games. Unfortunately with a user base of 77m people, it is really hard to offer something for everyone.”
Caplin also added in another comment that if you own PS3 and PSP you will gain access to both deals. Can’t say fairer that that.
In my personal point of view I’m with Sony on this one, the company, which has been hit hard financially with the PSN Outage, is doing all it can, at great expense, to bring people quality games from free. No matter what games Sony offered someone would have them already. Sony is also offering free identity theft protection and 30 days PlayStation Plus for free. What more could you ask from the company really?
