Sony’s posted up a huge Uncharted 3 blow out on the PlayStation Blog, giving a lot more details on the multiplayer aspects of the game.
It seems that making the game a personal experience is top of the list, with Game Director Justin Richmond telling the blog, “there are hundreds and hundreds of parts and every part has a customizable color. You can look the way you want to look. We want it to feel personal.”
Things get even more personal thanks to the games support of YouTube, allowing you to upload clips to both sites, as well as interacting with friends and sharing even more videos via Facebook.
You’ll get your hands on Uncharted 3’s new multiplayer modes when the beta begins on June 28th for PlayStation Plus subscribers and owners of specially marked copies of inFAMOUS 2; full access follows on July 5th for all PSN users. Watch the video and read on for more excerpts from our interview with Game Director Justin Richmond and Game Designer Roger Cogburn. And chime in with any questions in the comments!
Richmond also explained that by supporting 3D, the game is also able to support split screen, due to both techniques needing each frame to be rendered twice.
“There are a number of ways to implement 3D; some are more ‘fake’ than others,” Richmond explained. “We committed to using 3D early on, and we wanted to do it as real as possible because it allowed for splitscreen. 3D and splitscreen are kind of the same thing because the game is basically rendering each frame twice. As soon as we figured out how to do that with 3D, we knew we could handle splitscreen. Now, I am grossly oversimplifying that — the programmers would kill me for saying it was that easy! But basically, our 3D implementation allowed for splitscreen support.”
There is also some other pretty interesting information coming out of the post, for example Uncharted 3’s splitscreen multiplayer enables dual PSN logins. While during the game you will now be able to collect even more treasure.
