Paramount Digital Entertainment have today announced that they will be bringing Star Trek to PS3, Xbox 360 and PC next summer, in an original adventure which takes place after the events of J.J Abrams’ 2009 blockbuster.
The game will be co-op heavy and for the first ever time, players will be able to buddy up with a friend and play through an “unprecedented co-op experience” as Kirk and Spock.
“Star Trek challenges the boundaries of co-op gameplay with a galactic adventure that gamers and fans have never experienced,” said Tom Lesinski, President of Paramount Digital Entertainment.
Being developed by Digital Extremes, the team behind Dark Sector and the upcoming The Darkness II, the action-adventure game features a stand alone story, which continues from that of the 2009 film and is being written by God of War writer, Marianne Krawczyk who is working closely with Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, from the Star Trek production team to ensure the game is true to its roots.
The game will release in the summer of 2012 for PS3, PC and Xbox 360 and will make an appearance at E3, which kicks off next week.
