Activision has said that Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure will be the “first ever cross-platform gameplay experience” as it lets players seamlessly move their character between the 3DS, PC, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, the web and multiple mobile devices.
Activision has implemented a unique feature, called “Portal of Power”, which allows players to turn their Skylanders figure into a virtual version of itself, in game on any of the platforms listed above. The skills and stats that players build up, will always be remembered so you can carry on advancing your character as you move it from platform to platform.
“Imagine a kid taking his Skylanders toy and bringing it to life on his Xbox 360 one day, then bringing it to life on his friend’s PS3 the next day, then bringing it to life inside his 3DS and playing it in the back of his parents’ car the next day, then bringing it to life on the web the day after that, all the while, building his character’s strength and powers across all of those platforms,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing.
The game, which will be primarily aimed at children, lets players take on the role of a ‘Portal Master’, who can control over 30 characters, including Spyro, as they protect the magical world of Skylands.
The game will make an E3 appearance this week and will hit stores later in the year.
