Battlefield V Revisited
| 2019-08-13

Revisited is back and today, we are taking a look at a game which I feel has been grossly underappreciated since it dropped last year. Battlefield V has been regarded as a failure by many within the industry with most stating that they simply weren’t interested in a WW2 shooter one year after Call of Duty WW2 launched and I can see where they are coming from, although the game is completely different and offers much more than COD did. As Black Ops 4 has been pretty dry recently, I thought now would be a good time to pick up my copy BFV again and I had such a good time, I decided to write about it! So why then am I enjoying my time with Battlefield V and what is it like 6 months down the line? Let’s find out.

It’s no secret that I am a COD fan as opposed to a Battlefield one however, that doesn’t mean that I can’t enjoy the offerings of the latter when the former is in a quiet period. Don’t get me wrong, I still very much prefer COD but Battlefield do have an advantage in some areas. I loved BFV when I reviewed it on launch and coming back to it, I was reminded just why I rated it so highly as it still plays really well and I don’t feel like I have missed out on much by not playing it consistently. This is a really big factor for me as I missed a few months of Black Ops 4 and there is now subsequently a fair amount of content I’ll never be able to get my hands on. Anyway, gameplay within Battlefield V feels awesome, if you end up on the right map that is. I've mainly been playing Grand Operations and I would say around half of the maps are good fun, the others are pretty rough. To be fair to the game, I do snipe most of the time and I tend to hate the flatter maps as there’s not many places for me to hide and rack up those long-range snipes. On the subject of sniping, I don’t think there is actually anything more satisfying than dinking someone across the map on Battlefield. Just hearing that ping and seeing the score pop up is so unbelievably satisfying. Aside from gameplay, the game looks absolutely gorgeous, especially when compared to other shooters and I adore the ability to change your FOV on console, that is something that should be in every game regardless of platform. Some of the vistas within the game are breath-taking and to make it even sweeter, you will be hard pushed to encounter any major performance or graphical issues either! It really is a great game and it has got a lot bigger since launch with more content and of course, its Firestorm BR mode which is always good fun. I would highly recommend you try out Battlefield V if you get the chance, it’s a great game with plenty of content to get stuck into. If you can’t get BFV, Battlefield 1 is also a solid option which is bound to be super cheap seen as it’s a few years old. Let me know what you think of BFV if you have played it recently down in the comments below and if you want to grab a copy, check out the link below.
