Death Stranding Initial Thoughts
Possibly the most confusing and eagerly awaited game of this console generation is finally here, Death Stranding is out today! From all the hype surrounding its reveal, to all the cryptic trailers we have had since, its all boiled down to this and I’m very, very excited to finally get my hands on the game. I came into the game still not really knowing what I was about to experience but very eager to begin uncovering the mystery that surrounds the game. I had heard a few things here and there, but I wasn’t sure whether I would like it as it does appear to be quite a slow game. SO then, after playing the game and recording the below Live First Play video, what are my thoughts? Let’s find out! Keep scrolling to read my thoughts and check out some gameplay below:
From the intro and first few minutes of gameplay alone, you can tell that this a huge game which has been polished to an unreal degree. The visuals, the concept, even the controller vibrations feel like they have been meticulously designed to give you the full experience of this cinematic game. From what I've played so far, the premise still remains a mystery however, I have experienced a few key elements of the game and from what I've seen so far, this does appear to be a really special one. The mystery was what brought me to the game and its also what makes me adamant that I will finish it very shortly. So why am I loving it so much? Well gameplay is simple so far and easy to get used to, the plot is extremely intriguing, and the landscape is absolutely stunning. The world design and visuals feel ahead of the time to be honest; this game is going to look incredible when it makes it to PS5! Its hard to describe just why I enjoyed myself so much, I think it can be attributed to the overall experience of finally playing this game. I was so excited to play it and now that I finally have it, it feels like it is going to be even better than I expected! So far, Death Stranding is feeling like it really could be something very special and potentially a GOTY contender. Definitely game of the year, maybe even game of the generation. I like the way Lindsay Wagner is portrayed as she is now and de-aged like she was in the Bionic Woman. The game is beautifully created and features an all star cast, with an awesome soundtrack. It sure is a breath of fresh air against all the copy and paste games you get year after year, and does not seem to be bogged down by microtransactions.
