Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 Now Live – Huge New Update!
| 2019-10-15

Just as Fortnite was starting to get a little stale, Epic have pulled off one of the most memorable events in gaming history as they transition the game into “Chapter 2”. This new chapter bring s whole host of changes to the game, some huge, and some not so big but overall, the game looks completely different to what it used to be. I'm going to go over some of the biggest changes that arrived today and discuss my overall thoughts on the update towards the end of this article so sit back, relax and enjoy! If you didn’t see what went down, there was a huge event on Sunday night which was so impressive. The event climaxed with players being shot away from the old map out into space where they were greeted with a black hole. This black hole was all that players could see when booting the game until earlier this morning meaning that the game was actually not available for two whole days. only Epic could pull something like that off, literally sending the world into a frenzy by taking their own game down. I honestly rate it so highly and it made for an insane amount of social media coverage and buzz. As mentioned then, today saw the servers return and normal services resume, thankfully!

So first of all, the biggest change comes in the form of the new map which you can see below. This new map brings plenty of new POI’s and a few familiar ones back to create a fun new world full of secrets which are waiting to be discovered. I’m liking the look of it so far, but I still need to do some more exploring to formulate my full opinion! Sections of the new map have deeper water which you can now swim in! Swimming is pretty cool, and you can also build whilst doing so to keep yourself covered from enemy fire! Small items like barrels are also dotted around and you can now climb inside and hide within these items which I can see myself doing to give enemies the slip. The new UI looks a lot cleaner than the old one and makes the game look much more modern and fresh. Another major change sees the ability to pick up and carry teammates or enemies that are knocked down, I've even seen a clip of someone throwing a downed enemy off the side of a hill and killing them, that’s pretty sweet.

Moving onto weapons, most of the guns you are used to are still here but with new designs. The burst AR’s have got a buff and there is a new rare AUG which is apparently pretty OP. There’s a new bandage launcher which allows you to heal teammates at range and on the subject of healing, fishing is now within the game and you can hook fish which can be consumed to give 50 health! There’s a new battle pass and plenty of other changes to be discovered so get on and get playing! The patch notes aren’t here just yet but as you can already tell, a lot has changed and it looks like Fortnite could be well and truly back! Let me know your thoughts on these changes down in the comments below, will you be returning to Fortnite for this update?
