GTA Online – Revisited
| 2019-09-07

GTA Online has been one of my favourite gaming experiences since it launched back in 2013. I've been there for the highs and the lows and I’ve made millions and created so many amazing memories in the process. As we all know, GTA is a game that combines so many aspects together into a nice little package. Whilst each area may not be perfect, the outcome is a game that just works and provides hours upon hours of fun content. I played GTA Online frequently from day one, to probably around mid 2016 when all my mates and myself went off to Uni and then my playtime reduced to just coming back for content updates or special events. Recently though, I came back to the game for what I think is the biggest update since heists hit the game, the Diamond Casino and Resort update. So, after returning and playing quite a bit of the game these past few weeks, what’s changed and is it still the amazing experience it once was? Continue reading to see my thoughts.

GTA Online is now possibly the most fleshed out online experience I have had. From the continuous stream of phone calls I keep receiving from in game characters, to the areas of the map that I am somehow still discovering a full six years after launch, there is always, always something to do in GTA Online. The best part of it all is being able to mess about, complete fun missions and express yourself with clothing and cars all with your mates by your side. A common complaint from people within the GTA community is that things within the game are so expensive and whilst I agree, I like the fact that you have to grind to be able to access certain things and with all the methods of making money in the game these days, there are plenty of opportunities to make that cash and experience these additions. Moving onto the Casino then, this update is massive and for the first time ever, I find myself coming back onto GTA Online every day to get that free chance at winning the podium car. I love cars in GTA and regardless of which car is up for grabs, I want it. This keeps me coming back on and I have subsequently began playing some of the other missions I haven’t completed yet and finding things I didn’t even know existed within the game. The Casino update also brought some dripfeed content which drops every Thursday alongside some discounts for Twitch Prime members and this is also exciting for me and gets me on every Thursday to check out what’s new. This latest update then completely changed the game for me and brought me back to something I thought I was finished with, fantastic job Rockstar. Whilst some of the other content Rockstar have added is a little zany, I still feel like GTA Online, providing you are in the right lobby is a load of fun and should be Revisited if you haven’t played in a while. It has and will always be one of the greatest online experiences within gaming and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for the future of the game and the IP as a whole.
