Metro Exodus – One Week Until Launch – All The Details and Trailers
| 2019-02-08

The wait is very nearly over for Metro Exodus! I can’t believe its almost here, it feels like we have been talking about this game for years (maybe because we have) but its now just one single week away from dropping through our letterboxes. As we have covered the game so much before launch, I've decided to compile every recent trailer for the game, alongside a brief recap my thoughts of what I got to see when I played the game way back in the middle of last year. Before all that though, lets take a look at the versions we have available. We are stocking the games regular version and the Aurora limited edition. Both editions will come with the Creatures Of Metro Exodus Poster and a ShopTo Exclusive Patch set which is pretty decent considering all you need to do to get them is pre order a copy! The Aurora Limited Edition also comes with a nice steelbook case, Art book and access to that all-important expansion pass. Head down to the product links below to find out more about both versions. Check out the games latest trailers and keep scrolling for our initial impressions from the event we attended last year.

You are free to explore the level and find the secrets within. After you complete that level however, that’s that, there’s no going back there. This is an awesome mechanic as it forces you to explore these mini worlds before moving on. The Bridge mission had me travel to several locations, meeting characters along the way, whilst also of course, slaying all the weird mutated creatures that got in my way. The story from what I saw, seemed to be pretty decent. Some characters have awesome personalities which made me laugh a fair few times, it’s a mix of seriousness and comedy which is hard to get right but from my initial experiences, I think they might have hit the nail on the head.

Metro Exodus is ruthless, and I mean it. Several times I found myself having to think of different ways to slay enemies as I had completely run out of ammo, which of course is my own fault, but I wasn’t expecting the world to be so harsh! You also have to keep tabs on your gas mask filter which can lead to a swift death if not managed and this makes for some very tense gameplay moments as you scramble to craft a new filter having just about found the materials needed, all whilst enemies are approaching and you character is suffocating. Ammo can be crafted at stations dotted around the world but it is obviously best to stock up before you head out and use it very sparingly, avoiding conflict where possible. Weapons are also sometimes unreliable, especially when dirty which means they can jam when you least expect it. This combined with the minimal UI make the game feel very intense, unlike most other shooters out there. I really like this hardcore approach and it fits perfectly with the games setting and theme.

Graphically the game is very impressive. As I mentioned, I was playing at 4K on what was effectively an Xbox One X and I was very impressed with what I saw. The world although baron, still somehow feels full and there are sights to see all around, an incredible feat considering the game runs so smoothly. Never have I had so much fun burning away cobwebs, its surprisingly satisfying! Seriously though, the world looks very realistic and the lighting is truly amazing, especially at night. All of this of course adds to the intensity which I mentioned earlier, if you go somewhere dark, you better have your wits about you because enemies can jump out from anywhere. Overall, the game looks fantastic and you can see its been in the works for so long!
