ShopTo Blog Gaming Discussion 19/08/19 - Gamescom Time!
| 2019-08-21

Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend and actually, week as I was away last week so I had to pre-write and schedule articles (after some struggle!). Anyway then, this week looks to be a very exciting one indeed as Gamescom kicks off later today and we will have coverage of two, yes two new releases! Both releases are looking sharp and I’m really excited to get playing them, I may even stick a cheeky livestream in there too so keep an eye out for that! An exciting week lays ahead but before all that, we have to finish this discussion article! So then, not much gaming news over the weekend but I did see that Halo Infinite is apparently getting supply drops which a lot of people are upset about and also on the subject of shooters, I've heard that we may get a chance to play COD MW very soon, I wont say anything else yet but make sure to check back later today for some new MW info! Moving aside to bits I missed during the week, the rumoured Need for Speed Heat was announced and will be releasing on November 8th. It looks alright but I’m praying that it will give us those old school NFS vibes, but I highly doubt it. Also in the news was No Mans Sky as its huge Beyond update launched. I have actually reinstalled the game and started a new save so ill keep you all updated with that and I may also write up a Revisited at some point too.

Discussion Topic: Has gaming got too complicated?

Georges Answer: I was thinking to myself the other day whilst setting up all my consoles again, hasn’t all of this got too complicated? Don’t get me wrong, plugging in standard cables across consoles is fantastic but in terms of software, I remember the days where you could just put a game in and play it, no downloads, no DLC and no subscriptions. I loved going into town and coming back with three pre-owned PS2 games and just playing them when I got back straight away. Now I would have to buy a copy, update my console, update my game, subscribe to a service and then I might be bale to play the game, two days later. If you have fantastic internet connection and a fair amount of disposable income, these issues can turn into positives but for the most part, getting a new game comes with a lot of inconveniences

I did comment earlier but somehow lost it. Gaming is getting complicated, getting fed up of updates. Some days all games I try an play need update, I go play one game then it needs update, so go play another game that needs update too. Can leave console in \"rest\" mode but it uses up more power and not good for the environment. Nintendo is probably the best console manufacturer these days, they always keep things simple and make fun games. I can not see the next gen consoles being any better if anything even worse with longer update times. The only thing they could make the next gen consoles more innovative is making them fully backwards compatible with all games from all previous generations and not just a select few. Then I could get rid of old consoles and it all be good for the environment, and less consoles plugged in.
