After Naughty Dog dropped the huge new trailer and released pre-orders for the hugely anticipated The Last Of Us Part 2 earlier this week, they were forced to address queries about a fan favourite component of the game on social media last night. Whilst the story is obviously the most important aspect of The Last Of Us, a lot of fans fell in love with the games multiplayer mode which is known as Factions. It was a mode that very much didn’t have to be a part of the first game, but fans really took to it and it became one of the key components of the stellar experience that was the first game. Last night then, Naughty Dog took to Twitter to share that the sequel set to release in February next year, will not have the faction’s multiplayer mode. Stating that the singe player within the game is the “most ambitious project Naughty Dog have ever taken on” and that “evolving factions from the first game, the vision of the team grew beyond an additional mode that could be included with their enormous single player campaign”. This then leads into the statement that fans will be getting a chance to experience the team’s online ambition but it won’t be as part of The Last Of Us Part 2. This then suggests that they will be releasing perhaps a DLC or a completely new standalone title which will contain the Factions mode. I personally never played Factions but to be honest, although this means we won’t be getting it in February, it means that we could be getting another huge Last Of Us experience at some stage which I think is a pretty good trade off!
