ShopTo Blog Gaming Discussion 17/12/19
| 2019-12-17

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you’ve all had a great weekend! It’s been a pretty eventful last week for gaming as we move ever closer to Christmas and the start of a pivotal year for the gaming industry. We had The Game Awards last Thursday evening which saw Xbox make a huge play by unveiling the name and design of their next gen console, the Xbox Series X. We will have an article discussing this in more detail later this week but I’m actually pretty impressed by what they have revealed so far but ill have a few points to discuss within that article. Also coming before the end of the month, we’ll be taking a look back at the year so far and discussing our game of the year, whilst also looking ahead to 2020 and looking at what may be coming our way! Unfortunately, due to release schedules, we’ve got no new reviews to come this year but with our GOTY articles, we’ll take a look back at some of the biggest games of the year! I also have an announcement to make within the below paragraph, I will also have another article discussing this further in the coming weeks!

Announcement: I'm leaving the ShopTo Blog

After several years at ShopTo, I have decided that I will be leaving the Blog on December 31st this year. I have had an amazing time and met/interacted with some awesome people during my time here and I want to thank you all for reading my articles and watching my content! I will have a full article on this (as mentioned) later in the month so keep an eye out for that but for now, thank you everyone and I hope you enjoy watching my first ever piece of content for ShopTo below!

So, this week should see a few articles drop with different subjects! Make sure to keep tabs on the blog and our social channels to stay up to date with everything! Let us know what you are playing down in the comments below and as always, have a great week everyone!

That is a shame you are leaving the Blog, but hopefully you have something new and better to go and not be unemployed. I hope the news section / blog does not close, but there has not been much activity lately, so it could get axed. The site has not been easy to use since the major overhaul about May, and customer service a lot slower, and so if the Blog is pulled, I will not be visiting Shopto so much after that. The site is hard to log in to atm, the captcha pictures are relentless, one day I tried logging in but vision was poor this day and took 15 mins trying to get past the pictures to log in! Also there is no link to Blog on mobile site, but I have it bookmarked. With all these things it is a turn off to log in and comment or even buy stuff these days. Every time the site gets updated, it just gets worse instead of better.

I am not hyped by the new Xbox at all, but it all depends on the games. They really should not have bothered with next gen just yet. I only got the X last year, and too soon to be upgrading again so soon next year. The Xbox 360 was 8 years, and next year will make the Xbox ONE 7 years. The Pro and X should have made this generation be at least 10 years. They need to focus on getting more games out there than more machines. With machines being more powerful will mean more resources and more development teams to get done, which they seem to be struggling with in this gen, and we get games like untitled goose game which would not stretch previous gen let alone current gen hardware! I also hope they release consoles without HDDs so we can buy our own. I do not see the point in SSD unless they are going to absorb the price, unless prices are more cheaper these days, but I do not want to pay £100 or more for a SSD and have less space versus more space with standard HDD, as no doubt the built in HDD will fill up quickly, and have to seek out external HDDs too. They should use 2HDDs and double the capacity in a RAID 0, this is just as fast.
