ShopTo News Gaming Discussion February 11th – New Games A Plenty!
| 2019-02-11

Good afternoon everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend! The last week had been pretty mad for games as the hype is through the roof for this week’s releases and we saw and new game take the top spot from Fortnite! We’ll come to this week’s new games later within our Out This Week section below but we have to talk about Apex Legends. It was revealed and released last Monday and instantly went straight to the top of Twitch where it remained for the rest of the week. It’s a great game which I have played a lot of myself, it just feels fresh and I love the speed of gameplay, if you haven’t played it yet I would strongly recommend giving it a go! Alongside Apex, I spent a fair amount of time last week playing CSGO which I decided to revisit. I’m still terrible at it but I’m enjoying improving and I've got a few fancy skins now too! I also played some more Pokémon Go and thankfully managed to snag a Shiny Meltan! I'm still enjoying the game and the constant stream of updates is keeping me hooked, I cant wait for the remaining gen 4 Pokémon to enter the game!

Discussion Subject: What are your thoughts on the Freemium model?

Georges Answer: Personally, whilst I always prefer a full paid, physical copy of a game, if Freemium is done right, I’m cool with it. Games like Fortnite and more recently, Apex Legends have nailed this model and they’re a pleasure to play. Whilst the pressure of buying in game currency is still there, it feels much more relaxed and you definitely don’t need to buy anything if you don’t want to. If you’ve got time to grind, you can grind and I rate that a lot!

Out This Week

Far Cry New Dawn – February 15th – PS4 and Xbox One

Seventeen years after a global nuclear catastrophe, civilization re-emerges from the chaos to find a world dramatically changed. In Hope County, Montana, the remaining populace has gathered into different groups, each with their own rules for survival.

In this new world order, the vicious Highwaymen, led by twin sisters Mickey and Lou, travel from place to place bleeding people dry of all available resources. As the Survivors try to defend their land against the Highwaymen's relentless onslaught, it's up to you to come to their aid and lead the fight.

In the latest installment of the award-winning Far Cry franchise, you are the last line of defense in a transformed, post-apocalyptic Hope County. Help the community of Survivors grow stronger, craft a makeshift arsenal through Escalation and cross-country Expeditions, and form unexpected alliances to fight for survival in a dangerous new frontier.

Jump Force – February 15th – PS4 and Xbox One

Featuring the world's most popular and classic manga/anime franchises including DRAGON BALL Z, ONE PIECE, NARUTO, and many others, players will be able to create their three-character manga/anime dream tag team and take them into battle in hyper-stylish arena brawls set against backdrops of famous landmarks around the world including New York City's Times Square and the Matterhorn in the Alps. Utilising Unreal Engine 4, JUMP FORCE brings these titans of Japanese pop culture to life for the first time ever in stunning realistic detail.

The lines that separate our world from the JUMP world have been blurred, with evil forces spilling into the real world to rule over humanity. The greatest heroes known to manga/anime including Goku, Luffy, Naruto, as well as many others to be announced, must join forces to triumph over the forces of evil seeping in from the JUMP world.

"JUMP FORCE provides an incredible opportunity for players to discover the rich universe of Shueisha and battle in iconic real-world locations.", said Hervé Hoerdt (Vice President Marketing and Digital at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe). "To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shōnen Jump, Shueisha and BNEE are bringing together some of the most beloved manga and anime franchises of all time. We can't wait to unveil more details on JUMP FORCE in the coming months."

Metro Exodus – February 15th – PS4 and Xbox One

A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro.

They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war.

But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East.

Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.

Explore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.

Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyom's story in the greatest Metro adventure yet.
